Activities organised so far include:

Fun Palace Workshops
A mixture of Science and Creative Activities. Works will run on Saturday from 11.30 – 13.30 and 14.30 – 16.30, on Sunday from 13.00 – 15.00. The workshops will be in the Fun Palace tent and run on a drop in basis with at least five different activities going on at any time. Many of the workshops will be run using recyled items and both adults and children are welcome to take part. Children however must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Local Photography Competition
This year at Belper Goes Green we are hosting a Photography Competition in the Fun Palace Tent. Photographs should be taken in Belper and to be printed no larger than A5.
On the back we need your name, contact details and age (Please write under 18 or over 18).
Please bring along your photo to the Fun Palace Tent on Saturday morning June 2nd. Visitors to the event will vote for their favourite and so choose the winners, one under and one over 18. Voting will start from 12.00 so the earlier your photo is received the more chance for votes.

Emma Parkins Willow
Emma a Willow Sculpter passionate about producing artwork that is sustainable and not harmful to the planet, will once again making a large willow sculpture during the weekend with the help of visitors to Belper Goes Green. The theme for this years structure is the sun. She is intending to make several sun sculptures that people can look through. People will be able to help her make the rays of the sunshine. They are more than likely going into the Crich Lane Gardens.

Mark Hornsey Figment Derby
Mark is the Lead Artist Producer of Figment Derby and will be attending with 'The Playbox', an interactive participatory pop up event which will be fun for all the family. Here is what he has to say,

Come along and be inspired to design, make and play.
Our PlayBOX has all the kit needed to design, create and invent. There are activities ready for you to get involved with or you could help us create new ones.
The PlayBOX is part of FIGMENT Derby and is 'on tour' for the next 2 years until the unveiling of the Museum of Making in 2020.'

DerwentWise and Derbyshire Wildlife Trust
DerwentWise will be attending with pleanty of information about the Wildlife Trust and and also activities that visitors can take part in such as green woodworking and artistic creations.

Kids Zone with Derbyshire Toy Libraries
Once again there will be a whole host of fun activities and play for kids young and not so young.

Fun Palace Workshops

Saturday June 2nd 11.30-13.30

  • Ola Wilson Manager at Fleet Arts and local Visual Participatory Artist  will be leading a workshop to make ‘Hapa Zome & Earth Painted Flags’.

  • Sue Macfarlane Green Party, Eco Activist and all round creative person making Geometric Origami Containers.

  • Christina Plant Chair of the Derbyshire branch of the British Science Association bringing along hands on science experiments.

  • Jade Elliot regular attender of Belper Goes Green and very creative person will lead a workshop making Recycled CD Animals.

  • Heather Stead, Teacher, sheep breeder, knitter and spinner of wool will both demonstrate and allow visitors to have a go at Spinning.

 Saturday June 2nd 14.30-16.30

  • Chris Baxter from Chris Baxter Baskets will be giving people the opportunity to make their own Willow Wands and Stars.

  • Rachel Kenning with the help of the Guides from 2nd Belper(St Peters) Guides will be leading some Science Experiments.

  • Suz Hennerssay a local craft workshop leader and crochet enthusiast will be making Paper Roses.

  • Sarah Turner Eco Art Designer will be running a workshop to Upcycle Plastic Bottles into Sea Creatures such as turtles, each participant would get to take their creation away with them.

  • Layla Marshall self employed Science Club/ Forest School Leader will be running a Science workshop with a STEM activity challenge.

  • Helen Jones a local Artist who helped create the Ceramic Poppies at the Tower of London and is a pet and animal artist will be leading an origami workshop.

Sunday June 3rd 13.00-15.00

  • Caroline Lavery a local Primary Teacher will be running a Science workshop using recycled materials.

  • Phillipa Larkin from Little Tins of Loveliness will be teaching people how to make Rag Rugs with recycled fabrics.

  • Julie Woznicska who works for the  Trent River Trust will have water from the Coppice Brook and magnifying glasses for visitors to discover what lives in it.

  • Tan Draig a well known Derbyshire Artist and workshop leader plans to make Victorian Toys, such as Jacobs Ladders or Climbing Toys.

  • Mark Bouskill an artist from Pontefract will be running a workshop on Thermatropes and Drawn Animation.

  • Zoe Adamson will be leading in a Recycled Plastic Jewellery Workshop:
    Reduce reuse recycle plastic! Using plastic from every day recycling you will be able to make some beautiful colourful and artistic jewellery or keyrings that your friends and family will have no idea are made from recycled materials! Zoe of Zoe Adamson Jewellery, will guide you through the process so you can create some amazing accessories of your own design.
